The new home for LCT3 - the Claire Tow Theater at Lincoln Center - is finished and officially open! It’s been an exciting week of events in the brand, new space, which is absolutely beautiful (seriously, go and see for yourself!)  With sunlight pouring in from every corner, a gorgeous theater, huge rehearsal space, with both a wall of windows and mirrors, big dressing rooms, a green room and more - I can’t imagine a more inspiring home for new artists to perform new works than on this roof with a beautiful view of Lincoln Center below and NEW YORK beyond.

A peek inside the rehearsal room at Women’s Project for We Play for the Gods… Previews begin June 1st at the Cherry Lane Theatre!

If you have plans to come out to Brooklyn over the next few weekends, you might want to grab yourself a ticket to see Wonderful Town at the Gallery Players theater in Park Slope.  If you do, you’ll see my husband, Adam singing on stage as Robert Baker, the magazine editor who falls for the writer from Ohio, Miss Ruth Sherwood, in 1935 New York. And Ruth, by the way, is played by the fabulously entertaining Cabaret singer, Molly Pope (Village Voice named, “Best Singer to Turn Life into a Cabaret - 2011”)
$18 for a night of laughter, song and dance? Trust me when I say it’s well worth it. Check out this article on Playbill for more info.!

I’m also quite excited about having a photo included in this!

Last week for at least the fourth (maybe fifth?) year in a row my mom and I visited the New York Botanical Garden during Orchid Show time to celebrate her birthday!  My mom raises orchids at home and I just love watching her face LIGHT UP as we walk by all of the beautiful plants and orchids inside the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.  She can tell you the name of practically everything she sees.  It’s really impressive.  A bit geeky (this makes her laugh!) but also super cool.  My mom’s awesome and as usual we loved the Orchid Show - thanks, NYBG!

Happy Holi! Images of people celebrating this fun (and messy!) Hindu color festival celebrating spring and unity among people.

More images from the Phagwah Parade on Sunday, March 11th, 2012 in Richmond Hill, Queens.  This annual celebration in Queens is one of the biggest of its kind in North America - tens of thousands were said to make it out to celebrate and wish everyone a Happy Holi!

On Sunday, March 11th I attended my first Holi celebration and Phagwah Parade! Holi is a Hindu “color” festival that celebrates unity and the coming of spring.  If you go, you should expect to have dye of all of the colors of the rainbow thrown at or rubbed all over you.  Baby powder is big, too.  It was so much fun!

More than two months and no posts? Oh my… I need to back track to the fall because I have so much to share! So many clients with such good stories.  Starting with these three!
A couple of months ago I was honored to meet and photograph three amazing kids - Ricky Springer, Mariah Reynolds and Nathan Hickey - winners of Kids Who Give; a national program sponsored by Farm Rich focused on kids who go above and beyond to give back to their communities.  The grand prize - awarded to each kid for all of their hard work - was a $2,500 check for each of their charities (yes, they all started their own nonprofits!) and an all expense paid trip to New York, which included a limo ride to Dylan’s Candy Bar (where they ate pizza and got to go on a candy shopping spree!) an afternoon spent checking out dinosaurs and space rocks at the Museum of Natural History, a carriage ride through the park, and an awards dinner in a private room at Sarabeth’s.  I had so much fun getting to know these kids and snapping photos of them as they went from place to place. This is one of my favorite shots, which we took outside the Museum of Natural History!
