On Saturday, October 1st I was honored to have the chance to photograph and document the 24 hour annual Americares Airlift Benefit, 2011. This year close to 700 people attended the benefit inside a hangar at Westchester Airport and, at around 10pm, I flew with about 60 of those guests from the event to the Dominican Republic on our very own Jet Blue plane. We had around four hours of sleep upon arrival (early Sunday morning) before dividing up into three groups to see, in person, how medicines and donations are being put to much needed use at hospitals, maternity clinics, homes for the elderly, and even a nonprofit that provides support to children with cancer. I’m so grateful for the opportunity.
Check out Americares on Facebook to see more of the wonderful work they do here in the US and all over the world.
