As usual I’m behind with posting photos and work - both paid & personal. But,
Last Thursday night the Mets donned special “Los Mets” jerseys as they played hosts to “Hispanic Heritage Night” at Citi Field sponsored by Goya. Among many exciting pre-game events (followed by a chance to watch the game from a VIP sky box!) Goya put together a team of All-Star salsa dancers (with the help of SALSEEK!) to perform on the field. Here are a few of my favorite shots of two All-Stars in action - Ron Prokopez and Tina Torres.
And a few more photos on Flickr
New portraits on my website… This is Yisel, member of Raices Profundas folkloric dance company in Havana. He taught me how to dance Rumba, Rueda and Reggaeton! He’s an unbelievable dancer… I also have video of him dancing Columbia at this spot (coming soon).
Another favorite photo from my shoot with the beautiful, Ms. Talia Castro-Pozo and her dance partner, Lee Bradley. More shots on flickr !
Exciting, new feature about world class bailarina, Talia Castro-Pozo, on Salseek! We had so much fun braving the chilly weather and intense WIND in Times Square to take these photos. I think it was one of my favorite portrait of a dancer shoots yet!
Many thanks to the fabulous Lemington Ridley who designed Talia’s dress and also did hair and makeup! The long trail of Talia’s gorgeous dress was actually perfect for the windy day.
My girl, Natalie - CEO of Salseek.com dancing the night away at her very own party at Hudson Terrace, 2.18.11.
Melanie Torres’s professional dance team, “Reflejos de Sabor” at the Salseek launch party - Hudson Terrace in New York, 2.18.11
Okay from hot boy we go to hot girl. This is Melanie Torres. She’s the daughter of Famous Mambo King, Eddie Torres and has her own dance school in the city called Dance On2. You can read more about Melanie and see more of the photos I took of her on Salseek.com.
Well, our Salseek launch party at Hudson Terrace last night was a huge success! I made it until around 2am before heading home. And the party was still in full swing when I left!
In continued celebration of Salseek’s official launch, I will be posting more photos of the amazing dancers that I’ve had the chance to meet and photograph. This is Joseph Rivera. For his photo shoot we went to his favorite barbershop in the East Village for a hair cut before heading out to take portraits in his neighborhood streets.
You can read more about Joseph and see more photos from our shoot on Salseek.com. Also, if you’re interested in learning to dance and you live in New York - check out Baila Society. Joseph is an instructor and co-founder.
The first party Salseek threw was to celebrate the “Women of Salsa,” and a six page photo spread in Latina Magazine of some of the New York Salsa scene’s most celebrated female Salsa dancers. Here is a shot I took of Talia Castro-Pozo performing that night at Taj Lounge.
